Scratch-made Brunch

A DESTINATION

In 2004, two brothers from Portland embarked on a gastronomic tour, eating their way across America’s finest diners, barbecue fests, soul food joints, and fish frys. They journeyed from one out-of-the-way eatery to the next, seeking the simple perfection of everyday regional dishes served in establishments where original recipes are still made from scratch. Their goal was to learn how a good neighborhood restaurant becomes a food institution.

…the type of place that a friend tells a friend not to miss…

In 2006, Hot Suppa! opened its doors in an 1860 brick Victorian in Portland's historic West End. With its high ceilings, exposed brick walls, and original moldings, the building has always been as much a part of the experience as the food itself. Inspired by the flavors and hospitality of New Orleans and the American South, Hot Suppa! quickly became a neighborhood favorite by serving honest, scratch-made comfort food with quality ingredients and genuine hospitality.

In 2025, Hot Suppa! entered its next chapter when longtime employees and husband-and-wife team Cameron and Amber Rodrigues purchased the restaurant from its founders. Having spent their careers in the restaurant industry, they embraced the opportunity to carry on the legacy that so many Portland locals and visitors have come to love.

As a family-owned and operated business, we understand that Hot Suppa! is more than just a restaurant—it's a gathering place for our neighbors, a destination for travelers, and an important part of Portland's West End. We feel a deep responsibility to honor what has made this place special while continuing to invest in its future.

Everything we serve is prepared with the same philosophy that has guided Hot Suppa! from the beginning: make it from scratch, use high-quality ingredients, and never cut corners. From our biscuits, gravies, grits, and corned beef hash to our seasonal specials, cocktails, and house-made ingredients, we believe great food starts with taking the time to do things the right way. We source local products whenever possible and continue to draw inspiration from the rich culinary traditions of New Orleans and the American South.

Whether you're joining us for brunch with family, meeting friends over Bloody Marys and mimosas, or discovering Hot Suppa! for the first time, we're grateful to welcome you through our doors. Thank you for helping us continue the tradition.
